The demo of “Bangs,” from TMBG Unlimited. This is one of those times when I like the demo better than the album version, just cos the last verse is so bizarre.
These are the other interesting signed TMBG Unlimited Mink Cars I’ve seen. (The “Hello!” isn’t silly but it’s CUTE.) No one knows for sure of course but people were speculating that the scribbling on the last one was Henry.
They sent these signed copies of Mink Car to everyone who subscribed to TMBG Unlimited and I think John definitely got bored with doing it cos he did silly things on a fair number of them. I hadn’t seen this one before though. Silly silly silly.
fallenoutwithmyhead was asking about a non-Dial-A-Song-quality version of TMBG’s cover of “Concrete and Clay,” so I figured I would go ahead and post it! DIG.
God during TMBG Unlimited they did this “Battle of the Bands” thing right where they were going to be pretending to be fake bands in different styles and the first month they ACTUALLY DID IT AND CAME UP WITH SOME PRETTY FUCKING AWESOME SHIT and then the next month they were like “ehhhhhhhhhhhh” and almost entirely just slapped some fake band name on pre-existing stuff and god this has happened with other things like PODCASTS etc, they’re like “OOOOH SHINY NEW TOY” and get all excited and DO AWESOME SHIT and then in just a little while they get bored and forget about it and RAR.
MY OTHER FAVOURITE THING about “Somebody Took My Eye” is how you can hear them starting to go into “Ana Ng” at the end, like, just the contrast of THAT and then ONE OF THE MOST PERFECT SONGS EVER COMPOSED. Godddddddddddddd. So amazing.
IT WAS THE ONLY EYE I HAD
Let us all be reminded of John Linnell’s mad improv skillz
